Although I'm a Romanian native, I can say I enjoy listening a few Jewish songs.
Not so long ago, I found out that the Israeli national anthem has it's origins in Greater Romania (Iasi, RO and Ungheni, MD). The original song is called Cucuruz cu frunza-n sus or maybe Carul cu boi. Both are almost sure inspired from a medieval song, Fuggi Fuggi Fuggi, but the anthem author heard it for the first time in Romania, he said.
Today I was curious to find out the origin of probably the most popular Jewsih song, Hava Nagila. Well, guess what? It's from Bucovina, the historic county in Northern Romania, where I live now. The original name is Hora.
